COVID-19 Wave in Singapore Coronavirus Variants Cases Peak Expected in June


Singapore COVID-19 Cases: Corona cases have increased once again in Singapore. It is estimated that Corona cases in Singapore may reach its peak between mid and end of June. The country’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said, ‘We are still in the early stages of the Covid wave, but it is continuously increasing rapidly.’ The Straits Times newspaper has shared the information quoting the Health Minister. The newspaper reported that FLiRT, the main variant of Corona, is increasing rapidly in Singapore.

Its new variant FLiRT is believed to be the reason for the increase in Covid cases in Singapore. According to regional news reports, currently more than two-thirds of the cases in Singapore are of the KP.1 and KP.2 variants. The World Health Organization had asked to keep an eye on the KP.2 variant till May 3. WHO said that the KP 2 and KP 1 variants of Corona are less infectious than FLiRT, it spreads less rapidly.

How many patients are being admitted to the hospital?
The number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore stood at 25,900 between May 5 and 11, compared to 13,700 in the week before, according to Singapore Health Ministry data. According to estimates, a week ago, 181 Covid-19 infected patients were being admitted to the hospital every day, the number of which has increased to 250.

There will be no lockdown in the country
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that at present the government is in no mood to impose any kind of lockdown yet. Because Covid-19 is considered a local disease in Singapore. If Covid cases increase further, additional measures will be taken. The minister said that there is more movement of people in Singapore, hence the infection of Covid-19 spreads faster here compared to other countries. The Health Minister said that Covid-19 has become a disease for the country with which we will have to live. Every year there may be one or two waves of Corona in Singapore.

Cases of FLiRT variant seen in India also
If we talk about India, currently 91 cases of FLiRT have been identified in India. At present, no different severity or symptoms of this variant are visible in India. FLiRT cases have been found in many areas of Maharashtra.
